My dear friend and longtime brother in arms Roland from Defiance Records gave me a call december 2011 and told me that his long time associate Olli from Karlsruhe – formerly in Ambrose – is playing in a new band. Roland was totally psyched about the music and asked me to check out this brand new outfit (they started in fall 2011) and their newly recorded seven songs. I expected some emo/indie-tunes – given to the Ambrose reputation – and was blown away from the passion these songs poured out of my speakers. Maybe this is the first “hardcore” Band on This Charming Man. They take the passionate, almost spoken vocals out of bands like of the popular “Wave” movement , use similar picturesque language but combine it with an almost post-rockish guitar sound without loosing their drive and attack. This is not a new way to get a postrock thing going – this is modern hardcore with extraordinary guitar work.
